Description

"On the Garibaldi path, which the hero of the two worlds traveled in far away in 1848 on the run to the Tyrrhenian Sea, and right in the heart of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines, you find an old stone convent with a small consecrated church.
"Immersed in a place of peace and hidden among woods of oaks, chestnut trees and broom plants, famous for its pure, spartan and fascinating water source, this refuge will amaze you with the location and friendliness of the people who frequent it, for silence and its nature, for the small local delicacies that will be offered to you. "

"You are in the province of Florence but at the gates of Romagna and you can reach it by any means ... but if you come from Florence or Ravenna get there with the train of Dante and get off at the small station of San Martino in Gattara."

A few kilometers from the Refuge we meet Marradi, birthplace of the poet Dino Campana, author of the "Canti Orfici"; this country has the flavor of the past and is visited in a suggestive way along the itineraries of the Lamone River.
The Marradese territory is rich in woods and transparent waters, has an irregular profile in the succession of reliefs on which Abeti, Carpini, Faggi, Castagni thrive, crossed by marked trails that can be traveled on foot, on horseback and by mountain bike - even with specialized guides -.
Marradi can be reached thanks to the "Train of Dante", a little train that unites the city of Florence -City of art- with the city of Ravenna - Capital of the Western Empire -, meeting along the route Brisighella -Borghi most beautiful Italy- and Faenza -City of Ceramics-.

Valnera last "strip" of Tuscan land, a place of prayer, perhaps a convent, for the Camaldolese monks, a place of rest, a stop for General Garibaldi, parish until the 60s, school for the inhabitants who lived in the valley, shelter during the war, peasant house until the 50s, a place of ghosts - the inhabitants of San Martino in Gattara murmur.
At the end of the '70s he began his activity of Hospitality and Refreshment.
