The Alma Domus hotel enjoys the privilege of being located in the heart of the city of Siena. It is part of the ancient complex of the Sanctuary of Santa Caterina, located in the territory of the Nobile Contrada dell'Oca, just a 5-minute walk from "Piazza del Campo".

The hotel is located in a former wool-making workshop (hedificium tirorium), likely dating back to the first half of the 14th century, owned by Brunello di Brunaccio. The drawing of cloth was the last of the fundamental phases of textile production. After being tanned and fulled in the fulling mills, the still-wet cloth was hung out to dry on special drying racks. The building, completely renovated and converted into a hotel in 1976, still retains its clearly visible façade on Vicolo del Tiratoio. It is structured on five levels, a high basement with a row of large rectangular windows, and a dense quadruple series of loggias on the upper floors, architraved on the second and fifth levels and arched on the second and third. The brick facing is typical. The interior retains the imposing pillars on which the large trusses rested from the ancient factory. In an early 17th-century view, the building appears completely open on the side facing the Basilica of San Domenico. A small building overlooking the slope from Camporegio down to Fontebranda, built much later but already existing on the maps of the Leopoldine land registry of 1811, was also incorporated into the drawhouse.
