The Alma Domus hotel enjoys the privilege of being located in the heart of the city of Siena and is part of the ancient complex of the Sanctuary of Santa Caterina, located in the territory of the Nobile Contrada dell'Oca, just a 5-minute walk from "Piazza del Campo".

Many of the rooms have a balcony or window with a wonderful view of the historic center of the city and the Duomo. (The city of Siena is universally known for its huge historical, artistic, landscape heritage and for its substantial stylistic unity of medieval urban furniture, as well as for the famous Palio di Siena. For these merits, in 1995 its historic center was awarded the title of World Heritage by UNESCO).

The hotel is located in an ancient wool-making workshop (hedificium tirorium), most likely dating back to the first half of the 14th century, owned by Brunello di Brunaccio. The drawing of cloth was the last of the fundamental phases of textile production. After being tanned and fulled in the fulling mills, the still wet cloth was stretched out to dry on special drying racks. The building, completely renovated, used as a hotel in 1976, still retains its clearly legible façade on Vicolo del Tiratoio, divided into five levels, a high basement area with a row of large rectangular windows, on the upper floors a tight quadruple series of loggias, architraved on the second and fifth levels, arched on the second and third, the facing is in brick. The interior preserves the mighty pillars of the ancient factory on which the large trusses rested; in a view from the early seventeenth century the building appears completely open on the side facing the Basilica of San Domenico. A small building was also incorporated into the drawhouse, overlooking the coast that descends from Camporegio to Fontebranda, much later but still existing in the maps of the Leopoldino land registry of 1811.
