Description

A house for group recreational activities, equipped with a modern industrial kitchen with dishwasher, slicer, deep fryer, 700-liter refrigerator, 400-liter freezer, and cookware and tableware available on site. On the ground floor, a large room is available for group activities in case of inclement weather, equipped with table tennis and foosball. Independent heating is available. Given the characteristics of the structure and the variety of opportunities offered by the area (roads and trails accessible on foot, by mountain bike, and even on horseback), the Casa Canonica is an ideal destination for scout groups, school groups, sports clubs, associations for the disabled, summer camps, parish groups, groups on spiritual and prayer retreats, families, and groups of friends. Mountain hikes are available on trails and circular routes maintained by the local CAI chapter. About a hundred meters away is the turnaria dairy, where you can visit one of the last remaining operating dairy farms (visits to be arranged with the cheesemaker). Approximately 1 km away is the Rio Budrin, a stream suitable for water games. Nearby, both upstream and downstream from the bridge over the Rio, hikers can see visible signs of a past that has not yet been completely erased, including the ruins of old watermills built here before the arrival of electricity, to harness the energy generated by the Rio's water flow. From the characteristic stone bridge, visitors can glimpse the beginning of the gorge carved out over millennia by the Rio. By speaking to Mr. Giuseppe at the former "alla paesana" farmhouse, visitors can access the rooms of the "MUSEUM OF BLUMARI AND THE TOWN" (the Blumari are the traditional masks of the town's carnival), housed in the former school adjacent to the house. Inside, in addition to the history of the local mask, the exhibits reveal the story of ancient crafts and life in the past.
By asking Mr. Giuseppe, you can also visit the mill located near the dairy, built with the arrival of electricity in the village and which operated until 1957.

Montefosca is a picturesque village located in the Natisone Valleys, approximately 750 meters above sea level. The surrounding landscape, rising from 157 meters at the valley floor to 1,124 meters at Mount Vogu, 1,237 meters at Mount Mia, and 1,641 meters at Mount Matajur, offers numerous sites of scenic and environmental interest, accessible via a network of easily accessible and well-marked trails and itineraries. You can enjoy the shade of coppiced woods of ash, fir, beech, chestnut, hazel, lime, and hornbeam trees. Rare flowers can also be found, while in spring the meadows are covered with fragrant daffodils and lilies of the valley. Furthermore, there are many animal species: from roe deer to wild boar, from hares to foxes, from squirrels to bears, which regularly travel a trail in the Mia area. Numerous birds can be observed in flight, including majestic birds of prey.
Characteristic of Montefosca is the Blumari carnival (every year on the last Sunday of Carnival), symbolic figures dressed in white cloth, with a high pyramidal headdress and bells hanging from their backs, who perform a skipping race around the town, thus announcing the expulsion of the spirits and the awakening from the winter death.

Within 200 meters: church, bus stop, residential area. Over 10 km: train station, supermarket, pharmacy, hospital.

Minimum 2 nights, Smoking is prohibited throughout the property, Groups of at least 15 people (in low season and without the use of heating, groups of at least 5 people are also permitted), Disabled access (rooms and bathrooms) only on the ground floor.
