House of the Wanderer in Contessa Entellina (Palermo)
24 posti letto

Description
In the heart of the village of Contessa Entellina, in the former convent of the Basilian Sisters, next to the Byzantine Rite Church, in the Spiazzo Greco, where much of the village's life takes place, we have created a place of welcome and hospitality for tourists, travelers, hikers, and scholars. Here, you can find not only hospitality but also all the information you need to experience and learn about the village and its surroundings, enjoy the serenity that only a small town can offer, and even decide to stay for several days. We called it "The Wayfarer's Home" because it aims to be the home of the walker, of those who seek, "the home" of those who come to this area to discover what they've lost, to rediscover their roots and find themselves, to spend a few days in complete tranquility in a completely unusual place, yet full of emotions waiting to be shared.
The facility accommodates approximately 25 guests, many of them in double rooms with shared bathrooms. It also includes a small two-bedroom apartment with ensuite bathroom. On the ground floor, spacious living rooms are available for group activities, such as scouts, educational activities, or workshops. On the first floor, in addition to the reception and several rooms, there is a fully equipped kitchen and a large dining room, with access to a large internal courtyard ideal for entertaining or socializing. The second floor houses most of the rooms and a staircase leading to a large terrace, which offers spectacular views of the Calatamauro forest, the bell tower of the Greek church, and the old town. From here, you can admire the Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco di Calatamauro, completely surrounded by greenery.
The options and rules for use vary. The rooms are provided free of charge, but a fee is required to maintain the facility and services related to the purpose for which they are used.
The Vivere Slow Association also offers nature excursions and tours of the town, the surrounding area, and neighboring municipalities. It also offers a variety of activities, from ceramics workshops to iconography workshops.
The Sicani Mountains area, which includes the bilingual community of Contessa Entellina with its unique Arbëreshë traditions, the coexistence of the Byzantine and Latin rites, the archaeological site of Entella and its Antiquarium, the Calatamauro Castle Archaeological and Naturalistic Area, and the Calatamauro Forest (one of the most beautiful in Sicily). The Vivere Slow Association welcomes visitors for relaxing days immersed in nature, experiencing its scents and flavors, participating in milking, tending a flock or grazing cows, or simply visiting the Arbëreshë village of Santa Maria del Bosco di Calatamauro, and the castle for a cultural tour.
Within 200 meters: church, bus stop, bar/restaurant, supermarket, residential area. Within 1 km: ATM, pharmacy. Over 10 km: train station, airport.
By provisions of the Ministry of Tourism, the facility is exempt from the National Identification Code as it does not charge fees but accepts donations to the management body. Furthermore, it only requests reimbursement for actual metered water, electricity, gas, and heating consumption.
