The facility is located at over 1,700 meters above sea level, where the Alta Valtellina ends and meets the crown of mountains and glaciers that enclose it. In summer, there are numerous hiking trails and nature walks for all levels. In winter, the ski lifts operate at full capacity, allowing skiers to experience some of the most renowned slopes in the world.

The "CENTRO ORIENTAMENTO EDUCATIVO" COE Foundation - the Foundation for Worship and Religion of the Diocese of Milan - owns the "LA BENEDICTA" Holiday Home. The COE's presence in Valfurva dates back to 1957, with the purchase of a small villa, its first accommodation, and then with the construction of the current facility in 1970. The Foundation, founded by Father Francesco Pedretti, a priest of the Diocese of Milan, has a significant statutory commitment to "...the promotion of religious and educational formation... including through the establishment and management of projects and centers...". In this sense, the work of volunteers in Valfurva over the years in providing hospitality and service, as well as the direct educational commitment of COE educators, have given the Home a special character as a place where people gather to grow humanly and spiritually.

The "La Benedicta" holiday home, following a major renovation completed in late 2010, is a welcoming facility capable of meeting the needs of families, young adults, teenagers, and children, offering adequate spaces for a stay that fosters social interaction. Located within the Stelvio National Park, the home has been made eco-friendly by installing solar panels and connecting to the Santa Caterina Valfurva district heating network, which uses virgin biomass, thus reducing CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the rooms have been equipped with a computerized system for turning off lights and regulating the bedroom and bathroom temperature, further saving energy.
