Description

Since 740, the Sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna di Soviore, patron saint of the diocese of La Spezia, has stood on the hills near Monterosso and Punta Mesco. The spiritual treasure of this church is the wooden statue dating back to the first half of the 14th century, holding the dead Christ in her arms, serene in the certainty of her son's Resurrection. From this sanctuary, located at 465 meters above sea level, one can enjoy one of the most expansive views in the entire area, on clear days stretching from Corsica to Monviso, and the Maritime Alps.

The Sanctuary's guesthouse offers accommodations for restful retreats of body and soul: over 100 beds and an excellent restaurant (also open to non-residents) ensure a peaceful stay amidst the tranquility of the surrounding woods. Wonderful walks along the various trails are also available.
