The building in question was built in the 1950s and renovated in 2016. It served as an elementary school and nursery until 2004, and since 2005 it has been the "Madonna di Montenero" Center, designated a "Hotel Family Community." The three-story building includes a gym with showers and restrooms, a kitchen equipped to serve 80 meals, a dining hall with a television room, three large bedrooms, two medium-sized bedrooms, all with bunk beds, and seven rooms that can be used as singles, doubles, or triples (the latter featuring characteristic Alpine wood furnishings and a high energy rating), for a total of 75 beds with wide corridors on each floor. Each floor has adequate restrooms and showers. Outside, there is a small soccer and volleyball field, and the Don Bosco Sports Center and PoliAlbaredo sports center, offering a variety of activities, are a five-minute walk away.

Albaredo per S. Marco is the most important municipality in the Bitto Valley of Albaredo, located at an altitude of 950 meters above sea level in the heart of the Orobie Valtellinesi Park. Albaredo is in the Province of Sondrio on the left bank of the Adda River, 10 km from Morbegno on the road to the S. Marco Pass, which connects the Provinces of Sondrio and Bergamo. The Bitto Valley of Albaredo is the original and typical production area of Bitto cheese and is crossed by one of the most famous historic Alpine routes, the Via Priula, and can be reached from Milan in less than an hour and a half. There are several trails in the area of great natural value (easily accessible woods, streams, meadows, and mountain pastures). The Park Gate features two multimedia rooms with large screens and a nature museum. Main walks include: the monumental trees trail, the mountain pastures and transhumance trail, the Alpine eco-museum, and the Alpine lakes trail.
