Chateu-Verdun, at 1350 m above sea level, was a fortified house, located in the greenery, halfway between Aosta and the Gran San Bernardo pass (Mongiove).
Since the 11th century, the house, with the adjacent land, has always been at the service of the Hospice of the Great St. Bernard, both as a rest stop for travellers and mules, and as a farmhouse for the supplies of the Hospice itself.
Mission faithfully accomplished for nine centuries, that is, up to modern times, in the spirit of "welcoming" that characterizes the Canons of the Great Saint Bernard. Since 2002, part of the Cascina has been transformed into a monastery of cloistered Benedictine nuns. Possibility of participating in their functions.
