RB 53,1: " All guests who come to the monastery are to be received as Christ, because one day he will say: "I was a guest and you welcomed me ."

Hospitality, one of the values on which Benedictine spirituality is based, is the evangelical welcome of the brothers, who go to the monastery above all for an experience of God, taking advantage of the climate of recollection and prayer that it offers (RB 48,1).

The monk is aware that the monastery is the house of God and that the guest is not there for him but for Christ, the only thing necessary for anyone; from this awareness comes the style of hospitality: sharing the spiritual riches of a life lived in the constant presence of God, combined with attention to the needs of the guest, the brotherhood expressed in a prepared bed, the atmosphere of silence and prayer.

In recent years, the community of S. Girolamo has been recovering its vocation of dedication to the Word, linked to the Benedictine charism that is aimed at the constant conversion of life, in an attentive and adoring listening of the Lord who makes himself present in the brothers and in the master of the monastery, the abbot or the abbess. Sharing with the brothers the gifts that God gives in silence and solitude is a need, as well as a duty. For this reason, together with liturgical prayer, the community offers a service of the Word read, meditated, prayed and, by the grace of God, contemplated.

From this desire to share, some initiatives are born, such as the lectio divina on the Sunday readings, a series of biblical-spiritual meetings and personalized spiritual exercises.

The monastery's guesthouse is also open to those who wish to spend a few days in S. Gimignano, combining cultural exploration with a peaceful stay, in a comfortable but essential environment.
