Ancient The Monastery of Monte, located between Corso Matteotti (the main street of Bevagna) and the southern side of the medieval walls, was born in the 16th century from the union of pre-existing houses to house the Benedictine nuns who then lived on the outskirts of the municipality, bordering Pomonte and Gualdo Cattaneo, in an inaccessible and isolated location.

Around the 1990s, as the number of nuns had significantly reduced over time, a large part of the structure was transformed into a hospitality business, becoming, chronologically, the first hotel in Bevagna.

When in 2018 – there were only two nuns left – the Holy See put an end to this ancient and fruitful cloistered life, ownership of the Monastery was transferred to the Archdiocese of Spoleto-Norcia, of which Bevagna is a chosen portion.
Since December 2019, at the initiative of the Archdiocese, the Monastery has been transformed into a holiday home, intended to welcome pilgrims, families, and religious groups.
