Mornese is a small village on the hills of Monferrato (Alessandria), 380 meters above sea level, between the municipalities of Ovada and Gavi. The village, surrounded by vineyards, lies between the castle of the Marquises Doria and the Parish. In this place was born Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello, co-founder with Don Bosco of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
Next to the birthplace, stands the House of Spirituality, with a Sanctuary dedicated to Santa Maria Domenica Mazzarello (Porta Santa Year of Mercy 2016) which offers the possibility to individuals and groups (Salesian Family, Parishes, Catholic Action, Scouts, Colleges...) to spend days in the silence typical of these places for meetings-retreats-spiritual exercises organized and with the possibility of experiencing the historical-spiritual itinerary of Santa Maria Domenica Mazzarello, a model of a woman rooted in her territory with a strong parish commitment before the foundation of the Institute.
The structure offers meeting rooms, a conference hall, a refectory, a sanctuary, and a community chapel (for smaller groups) and is managed directly by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
