Mornese is a small village in the Monferrato hills (Alessandria), 380 meters above sea level, between the municipalities of Ovada and Gavi. The village, surrounded by vineyards, nestles between the castle of the Doria Marquises and the parish church. This is the birthplace of Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello, co-founder with Don Bosco of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
Next to her birthplace stands the House of Spirituality, with a shrine dedicated to Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello (Holy Door Year of Mercy 2016). This sanctuary offers individuals and groups (Salesian Family, parishes, Catholic Action, Scouts, colleges, etc.) the opportunity to spend time in the silence typical of these places, for organized meetings, retreats, and spiritual exercises. They also have the opportunity to experience the historical and spiritual journey of Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello, a model of a woman rooted in her local area with a strong commitment to the parish before the founding of the Institute.
The facility offers meeting rooms, a conference hall, a refectory, a sanctuary, and a community chapel (for smaller groups) and is managed directly by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
