Description

The Carmel of Lodi is located along the Via Emilia, where the town of Lodi fades away. From the north side of the Carmel, you can admire the Lodi countryside and, on clear days, even the crown of the Lombard Alps.

The monastery was built in the 1960s, austere and essential in its lines, yet it is well integrated into the local architecture.
The slender, austere bell tower of the Carmelite Church, which can be glimpsed, is like a finger pointing heavenward. It indicates to anyone who passes by that those who live in its shadow have only the things above in mind, seek only the Absolute, and are entirely dedicated to the service of God alone.
But it says even more: it points to Heaven, it pushes us to look up, recalling the primacy of God.

The monastery itself is an epiphany of God: it tells everyone that God exists. The existence of the nuns, entirely dedicated to his service and contemplation, reveals his lordship, his living presence among humanity. In a time when many live as if God did not exist, the existence of a reality like Carmel proclaims his glory. In the silence of the cloister, humble and strong faith in the living God thrives, becoming praise, thanksgiving, and intercession for all; and at the same time, it is ardent love for the Lord, a steadfast hope anchored in Him alone. A wholly contemplative life is prophetic because it proclaims to all that God exists and that it is worth living for Him, in Him, and with Him. Humanity cannot exist unless it is anchored to the divine, unless it is rooted in the supernatural.
