The shelter, "Bakhita Hospitality," is part of the Canossian Institute: a unique venture that began way back in 1808 in Verona, thanks to the ingenuity of a young woman, Marchioness Maddalena of Canossa. Promoting the less fortunate in the spirit of the Gospel was her passion, a passion she lived not only in Italy but throughout the world, wherever the need was greatest. Today, the Canossian Sisters are present in 35 countries across five continents, and among the long line of followers of Maddalena of Canossa, the name of the Sudanese Black Woman, Mother Josephine Bakhita, "the Fortunate," stands out.

“Bakhita Hospitality” welcomes, in a family atmosphere that responds well to the people's needs, various groups, pilgrims, families, tourists, conferences, spiritual exercises ... for lay and religious people.
