Description

The youth hostel is located in the hamlet of Fontenova in the municipality of Leonessa, at an altitude of 1,500 meters on the northern slope of Mount Terminillo. It is strategically located for numerous trails that begin or pass through it. Numerous winter and summer hikes are available, including the classics Prato dei Sassi, Vetta Sassetelli, and Vetta del Terminillo, and ski mountaineering in winter and splendid in summer. Another itinerary: Fontenova, Fonte Maiolica Monte Cambio. A circular route. The hostel was founded by Padre Tolmino Zelli Scolopio, a native of Leonessa and a lover of these mountains, who passed away 10 years ago. The hostel has been privately owned and operated, primarily hosting school groups, parish groups, and private individuals. The extensive renovations of the 1990s make the building efficient and welcoming, offering double and multiple en-suite rooms, a dining room, a bar, two meeting and reading rooms, and a small chapel.

The hostel is 3 km from the Campo Stella ski facilities, 200 metres from the cross-country ski slope, and 6 km from the Cammino di San Benedetto.
