This beautiful building is located on one of the routes of the Via Francigena, which Sigeric, Archbishop of Canterbury, traveled between 990 and 994. For the English archbishop, the parish church represented the twentieth stop (Mansio) on his return journey from Rome to England, and he called the location S[an]c[t]e Maria Glan. Friends of the Sigeric Way will be happy to welcome you to the hostel located in the finely restored historic buildings adjacent to the splendid church of "Santa Maria Assunta a Chianni".
