Description

The Refuge is located in the hamlet of San Crescentino in the Municipality of Cantiano (PU), a small hamlet surrounded by greenery 3 km from the small but notable historic centre of Cantiano, at the foot of Mount Tenetra, (Mt. Catria massif - 1702 m above sea level), logistically interesting because it is not far from cities of art such as Urbino and Gubbio.

The refuge is next to the small ancient parish church which displays two frescoes of notable historical and artistic value inside:
Saint Ubaldo, Madonna of Beautiful Love and a patron (1469) and Saint Anthony of Padua.

The Refuge is located in the old parish house, and together with the tower and church, they form a unique complex in style and beauty. Recent restoration work has revealed its history through the archaeological finds discovered beneath the floor and now preserved behind the altar: Byzantine friezes, a Carolingian cross, and possibly the remains of the martyrs Saints Orphitus and Benedict, friends of Saint Crescentino. Note the tall observation tower, which controlled traffic on the nearby Via Flaminia and perhaps also the Byzantine corridor. The road that passed nearby once led to Gubbio.

Capacity: The two-story facility accommodates 40 people, with three bathrooms on each floor; a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, and a dining room. The facility is heated and available year-round. To reach Cantiano, take the SP Flaminia from Rome or Fano to km 225. Then continue to the hamlet of San Crescentino. Even large buses can travel along the paved road leading to the hamlet of San Crescentino di Cantiano.

Within 200 meters is a church. Residential area within 1 km. Bus stop, ATM, bar/restaurant, supermarket, and pharmacy within 1 to 5 km. Hospital over 10 km.

The facility is exempt from the National Identification Code as it welcomes groups exclusively within its own pastoral activity.
