Rifugio VALNERA in Marradi (Florence)
50 posti letto

Description
"On the Garibaldi path, which the hero of two worlds traveled in the distant 1848 fleeing towards the Tyrrhenian Sea, and right in the heart of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines, you will find an ancient stone convent with a small consecrated church. You are at the Rifugio Valnera."
"Immersed in a peaceful place and hidden among oak, chestnut and broom woods, famous for its source of pure water, spartan and charming, this refuge will amaze you with its location and the friendliness of the people who frequent it, for the silence and its nature, for the small local delicacies that will be offered to you."
"You are in the province of Florence but at the gates of Romagna and you can reach it by any means... but if you come from Florence or Ravenna, get there with Dante's train and get off at the small station of San Martino in Gattara."
A few kilometers from the Refuge we come across Marradi, the birthplace of the poet Dino Campana, author of the “Canti Orfici”; this town has the flavor of the past and can be visited in a suggestive way along the itineraries of the River Lamone.
The Marradese territory is rich in woods and transparent waters, it has an irregular profile in the succession of reliefs on which firs, hornbeams, beeches, chestnuts thrive, crossed by marked paths that can be travelled on foot, on horseback and by mountain bike - also with specialized guides -.
Marradi can be reached thanks to the “Dante's Train”, a little train that connects the city of Florence - City of Art - with the city of Ravenna - Capital of the Western Empire -, meeting along the way Brisighella - Most Beautiful Villages in Italy - and Faenza - City of Ceramics -.
Valnera, the last “strip” of Tuscan land, a place of prayer, perhaps a convent, a place of rest for the Camaldolese monks, a stopover for General Garibaldi, a parish until the 1960s, a school for the inhabitants who lived in the valley, a refuge during the war, a peasant house until the 1950s, a place of ghosts – the inhabitants of San Martino in Gattara whisper.
At the end of the 70s he began his hospitality and catering business.
