Hermitage SAN BARNABA DI GAMOGNA in Marradi (Florence)
Description
The sisters of the Monastic Fraternities of Jerusalem have lived in the Hermitage of Gamogna since September 1998.
They were called here by the bishop of the diocese of Faenza-Modigliana to be at the service of today's man, especially in the diocese where the hermitage is located but not only, with a simple presence of welcome, work and prayer that extends a history of almost 1000 years, starting from St. Pier Damiani who founded a hermit life in this place, with the first monks, in the distant year 1053.
The Hermitage is a crossroads of many paths of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines (Dante's Walk, St. Anthony's Walk, CAI Walk to Marradi and to the Passo dell'Eremo, Viae Misericordiae) and a meeting place for those who have lived here, were baptized, got married (Gamogna was a parish until the 1960s) and worked hard for its restoration (starting in 1991). A place of pilgrimage to ask for graces for oneself and for one's loved ones, a point of arrival for scout groups, parishes, trekking and MTB lovers.
