Monastery of SANT'ERASMO in Veroli (Frosinone)
25 posti letto

Description
In the heart of Ciociaria, within the picturesque historic center of Veroli, a Social Tourism project is taking shape. The idea originated in Panorama Veroli 2009, within the Diaconia Social Cooperative, the organization managing services for the Diocese of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino. Three buildings, owned by the Diocese, were identified among the picturesque alleys of Veroli's center. Over time, these buildings had lost their original purpose and, having fallen into a state of complete or partial abandonment, posed a structural risk and contributed to the sense of abandonment and depopulation that the village of Veroli, like so many others in our country, has unfortunately been forced to endure.
The core principles underlying the concept of Social Tourism, in the context in which we operate, have the clear objective of increasing the local employment rate of young people and people with social, physical, and mental disabilities—the so-called "disadvantaged"—who find their professional dimension within our project, performing crucial tasks such as welcoming tourists, property maintenance, transportation, and gardening. Furthermore, the launch of our project has had a significant economic impact on the area, stimulating the creation of "ancillary" tourism businesses and encouraging the opening of other facilities. These are perceived not as competitors, but as partners, with whom we can forge collaborations and network to achieve our goal of becoming an attractive tourist destination "better and faster."
Monastery of Sant'Erasmo
The "heart" of our project, the idea made concrete! A Benedictine Monastery dating back to the year 1000, completely renovated. Nearly six years of painstaking restoration work, fully respecting the ancient stones and taking care not to alter their state of conservation and preserving their history and spirituality. The monks' "cells" have become living quarters, the ancient "refectory" has become a restaurant, the "cellar" has been brought to life with new light. Twenty-five beds, in single and double rooms, and a suite, two Monastero S.erasmoristorante rooms, a hanging garden, a stone courtyard with a wood-fired oven, and a conference room today make the Monastero di Sant'Erasmo a unique example of the conversion of a historic building into a "modern" and authentic hospitality and event venue. Also located within the historic center, it is easily accessible and, despite being in the heart of the village, maintains an atmosphere of exclusivity and privacy. In May 2014, the Monastery of Sant'Erasmo opened to the public as a venue for private and public events, demonstrations, ceremonies, festivals, and conferences. In 2015, it will also begin offering accommodations, offering bed and breakfast, half-board or full-board options, and organizing local tour packages and experiential vacations.
Smoking is prohibited throughout the property. Reception is open during set hours.
