SCALABRINI Alpine House in Villabassa (Bolzano)
The Scalabrini Casa Alpina is located in Piandimaia (1178 m.) At the foot of Mount Serla (2380 m.). From the house, located in a wonderful panoramic position, you can enjoy an absolutely unique scenery that allows you to hug Mount Elmo, Cima Undici and Cima Dodici at a glance.
The massifs around the "Tre Cime", the Dolomites of Sesto and Braies, form the impressive scenery of the Alta Val Pusteria: unspoiled nature, crystal clear air, green meadows, dense forests of firs and larches, healthy climate, is especially suitable for stays of care.
Taking advantage of the beautiful and comfortable walks in the surroundings, the guest will spend pleasant hours of recovery. Under the banner of "Holiday at Villabassa = stress goodbye!" The Tourist Association of Villabassa, in collaboration with the various local associations, offers its guests an interesting program of animation. The range is extremely varied and spoils the choice for young and old. Obviously the offer changes every year to satisfy even the regular guests.
The Casa Alpina, owned by the Scalabriniani Fathers, is managed by the Scalabrinian Agency for Development Cooperation (ASCS), which since 2004 operates in the name of the Scalabrinian Congregation in Italy and in the world (Colombia, Ecuador, Philippines, Haiti , India, Mexico, Mozambique and South Africa) with programs, projects and volunteers at the service of migrants, refugees and local communities, promoting awareness activities on the phenomenon of human mobility, training of volunteers, organization of events and fund raising initiatives.
The choice of the Scalabrinian missionaries to directly entrust the management of the Villabassa Alpine House to the ASCAS nurtures the hope of seeing the growth of knowledge among the guests of the house in so many Scalabrinian works that aim to positively live the reality of migrants and refugees in Italy and in the world, responding with Christian courage to the climate of fear and suspicion fed, often in an instrumental way, by the media, politicians and sometimes even certain "men of the church", national or otherwise.
